VISA NOTE:
– The Embassy of Iraq will only issue a visa when the Embassy receives approval from the Iraq Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Baghdad.
– At the present time, the Embassy of Iraq issues mainly a single entry visa valid 3 months from the date of issue for a stay up to max. 30 days. The period of stay can be extended on local application after arrival.
– Your application will be hand carried to the Embassy, and is usually processed when an approval number is received by the Embassy from the Iraq Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Baghdad.
Passport
Please send your current valid and signed passport. U.S passport must be valid 6 months beyond intended stay and must have at least one blank visa page. Foreign Embassies cannot issue a visa on a page not labeled as a Visa page. Amendment and Endorsement pages in the back of the passport cannot be used for issuance of a visa.

Proof of Departure
Please send a copy of your round trip airline tickets, or itinerary or e-ticket, or letter of confirmation from a travel agent. The itinerary must show the applicant’s name, date of arrival and departure from the country, and flight information. The Embassy does not recommend purchasing your ticket prior to a visa being issued.

- A visa approval notification (authorization number) issued by the appropriate government agency. Your host organization must work directly with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) to have a visa approval issued and sent directly by the MFA to the Iraq embassy in Washington DC.
